Pharmacy Legislative Day at the General Assembly in Raleigh

(NCAP) Pharmacy Legislative Day at the General Assembly in Raleigh. This event united pharmacists, student pharmacists, and pharmacy technicians from across the state to advocate for pro-pharmacy and pro-patient legislation. 

Engaging with Legislators

Throughout the day, our team engaged in meaningful discussions with state legislators, emphasizing the critical role pharmacists play in healthcare delivery. There were over 160 professionals who participated in the day and each senator’s office was spoken to by at least one of the fourteen groups that visited the legislative building. We addressed key issues, including:​

  • Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) Reform: Advocating for increased transparency and fair reimbursement practices to ensure patient access to affordable medications. ​
  • Expansion of Pharmacist Services: Supporting legislation that enables pharmacists to provide essential services such as testing and treating common illnesses, thereby improving patient care accessibility. ​

Collaborative Efforts

We had the opportunity to collaborate with fellow pharmacy professionals and students, sharing experiences and strategies to advance our collective goals. Notably, students from UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy and Campbell’s College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences actively participated, demonstrating the profession's bright future. ​
