Long-Term Care (LTC) at home services are growing rapidly, providing a vital solution for patients...
June Check-In: Are You Staying Compliant with LTC Regulations?
Compliance isn’t just a checklist—it’s the backbone of quality care. Patients rely on your pharmacy to uphold standards that keep them safe, especially when receiving care at home. In June, as workflows shift with summer schedules, it’s a great time to revisit your compliance foundation.
Start with documentation. Are delivery logs complete and accurate? Are you consistently documenting clinical interventions, patient notes, or follow-ups?
Next, review your staff’s credentials and training. Are licensures up to date? Have team members completed continuing education related to LTC? Consider scheduling a quick in-service session to refresh your team on common compliance pitfalls.
Also, audit your current patient list. Are you accurately tracking active LTC@Home patients versus general retail? Is your patient consent and intake documentation current and secure?
Finally, review your relationships with payers and facilities. Are contracts still valid? Do they require annual updates or documentation of services?
Proactive compliance strengthens trust, protects patient safety, and ensures proper reimbursement. It also positions your pharmacy as a dependable partner in the broader healthcare system.
